Age 85, of Lewiston died Monday, April 1, 2024, at Mount St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston. Rita was born August 19, 1938, in Detroit, MI, the daughter of the late Frank and Genevieve (Mroczkowski) Stark. She married Alexander Jekielek ,Jr. on September 13, 1958, and they moved to Lewiston in 1963. Rita was employed as a billing clerk in Dr.'s Weppner & Kropelin Medical Office for a number of years. She had been a longtime member of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Dept. #1 Ladies Auxiliary as well as an active member of St. Peter RC Church in Lewiston. Rita enjoyed reading and doing crafts, but she loved to be with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was most proud of her ability to text with them and share their stories and photos. Her husband of 56 years, Alexander, predeceased her on their anniversary in 2014. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Stephen) Cline, Rev. Steven Jekielek, and Ann Barbaro; two sisters, Margaret (Louis) Mioduszewski and Deborah (Carl) Scheer; and her grandchildren, Amanda Cline, Timothy (Angela) Cline, Erica (Andrew) Smith, Ashlee, Heather, and Nicholas Barbaro; and several great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by a sister, Terri (late Leonard) Howland, and a brother, Gerard Stark. Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Sts., Lewiston on Thursday, April 4, from 3 to 7 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered on Friday, April 5, at 11:00 am in St. Peter RC Church, 600 Center St., Lewiston, NY with Rev. Steven A. Jekielek officiating.Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lewiston. Flowers are gratefully declined.
