I was the second Secretary that worked for Bob At Sweet Home. He was a wonderful man that did so much for the students, coaches, administrators, teachers and workers at Sweet Home. He had a way of bringing all of us together to make work fun. He knew how to give a person confidence to do their best. My sympathy goes out to his family and all his friends. He was the best there is and will be missed by all.

Mr Barczak was one of the best. I am so glad I had the chance to see him in Buffalo two years ago. He went to high school with my Mom, and of course was the driving presence behind all sports at Sweet Home while I was there. He was just a great guy - always knew what you and your team were up to, always had an encouraging word, and knew precisely what you needed to work on to get better. He helped us get lacrosse started at Sweet Home. He was the quintessential Athletic Director - straight from Central Casting, and left his mark on generations of teams and students at Sweet Home and in Western New York. His presence will long be felt by the many he touched.
This captures it...Nicely...

My thoughts today are with you ..I am one of the young men he had touched with influence for the meaning of sports and the creation to all aspects of life. Mr. Barack and Joseph Shift let guided me away from just accepting something less than my potential .I was one of 3 Captains of the unbeaten Sweet Home Football team 1969-70. I went on to college at Brown and law school.,,He made a difference and I know that everyone knows I am not alone in feeling this way.RIP coach

I was saddened to hear the news. Though I was only close to Bob for a few short years I've thought of him often and fondly since those days at Sweet Home. He was a positive influence in my life at a place and time it was needed. I will miss him but will continue to think of him often. - Chris King

Mrs. Barczak and family,
It's really hard to add to the wonderful things that so many are saying. Bear was a role model, leader, and mentor to coaches, staff, and student-athletes alike. The fact that Sweet Home was so dominant in both boys and girls programs, as far back as the 70's was a testiment to his fairness and commitment to Title IX, long before it was fashionable. I can't imagine another single individual who touched as many lives in the positive way that he did in the Sweet Home School District. I have such positive memories of that part of my life because of the culture he created and I am truly grateful that I was able to visit with him earlier this year. RIP Bear!

To the Barczak Family,
Please accept our deepest condolences for your loss. Bob was a LEGEND at Sweet Home and the BIGGEST reason ALL of us athletes succeeded in our respective sports. His tenure at Sweet Home was truly the "Golden Years" of my life. After my parents and grandparents, he was my biggest thank you during my HOF speech. We will always be Panthers and Sweet Home will always be Bob Barczak. God Bless.

To Bob's family:
I was one of the first to be taken under Bob's wing so to speak. I was at Dexter Terrace Elementary when he Student taught there during the 59-60 school year as a fourth grader and then as a fifth Grader at Glendale Elementary (his first Job). He coached me in HS Sports and in just general life. One of the 3 biggest influential men in my life. Saw him 3 years ago. RIP Bob and know that you were a huge part of many young lives. To Carolyn and family,
It was with a very heavy heart that we learned of
Bob's passing. Our words of praise for him and you go far beyond the norm and in many cases do not do justice to the stature and standards that were set by the "Bear".
I met Bob in the summer of 1962, working as a cleaner in the high school. I had just graduated.
He was so friendly and made me feel on his level. Years later I became one of his adoring coaches (because of title 9) and loved every minute of his leadership and devotion to Sweet Home. We all were so proud to work for and with Bob and never wanted to disappoint him. Of my many fond memories was the weekend all of the coaches and staff helped to "remodel" the cottage at Cuba Lake.
Not a day will go by that I won't miss his deep voice and take charge manner. To say he was one of the greats is an understatement as is the fact he will be missed.
To the entire family we offer our deepest sympathy and condolences. Bob's memory will live on and so will the heritage he built that was second to none.
With love for him,
Glen and Connie McClary
