Robert BISKUP Obituary
July 25, 2022, of Sarasota, FL, and Amherst, NY, after a brief illness. Beloved husband of Maria (nee Rigler) Biskup; loving father of Brandon (Erin) and Lauren Biskup; cherished grandfather of Shane, Jordan, Melody and Savanna; brother of Mary Ellen Morrison; also survived by nieces and nephews. Visitation at LESTER H. WEDEKINDT, INC., FUNERAL HOME, 3290 Delaware Ave., Kenmore, Thursday, 3-7 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Friday at 9:30 AM in St. Christopher's Church, 2660 Niagara Falls Blvd., Tonawanda. "Buffalo Bob", as he's known in Florida, loved Sarasota beaches and his time at the Saratoga racetrack.

I haven't been in contact with Bob for more than 60 years, but he (along with his father) was responsible for one of my fondest memories. Bob was a classmate and friend of mine at All Saints elementary school in Riverside. In August 1961, there was a train excursion to Cleveland for an Indians - Yankees doubleheader; the price was $13. I didn't have the money, but Bob's father paid for me, with the understanding that I would pay him back. It was a great day, especially for a Yankee fan: they won both games (6-0 and 5-2) and both Mantle and Maris, in that record-setting season, hit home runs (#46 and #49, respectively). I sill remember the box lunch we ate on the train, saving the candy for the game; and walking back to the train car loaded with cold sodas (or "pop" to us at the time). I'm pretty sure that I repaid the $13, but I could never repay Bob for the priceless experience and the generous gesture of friendship.
