Roger Hausauer Obituary

Hausauer, Roger

November 15, 1947 - January 4, 2025

Roger H. Hausauer, 77, of Depew, NY, passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lackawanna, NY, he was the son of Harold and Patricia (Burton) Hausauer. He was the beloved husband of 55 years to Maryellen "Mernie" (Lynch) Hausauer.

Roger was a retired employee of Verizon where he worked as a Telecommunications and IT Engineer for over 35 years. Upon graduating from West Seneca Central High School, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned to the 1st Marine Division and completed one and a half tours of duty with the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion during the Vietnam War. He achieved the rank of Corporal and was awarded two Purple Hearts for wounds sustained in combat.

Roger also spent time with the Pine Hill Fire Department in Cheektowaga, NY, as a volunteer firefighter. With his continued dedication to service, he served as PPC of AMVETS Buddy Knaus Post 14 in Depew, NY. Roger was a cherished coach of many local youth sports teams. He spent many years volunteering for the Airlanes Jr. Football program as the head football coach.

Roger was a true sportsman and a member of Wood and Brook Sportsman's Club in Alden, NY. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and trap shooting. As a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Depew, NY, he enjoyed the company of his many friends. Roger loved to travel and had a profound love of sunny beaches and ocean water. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife Maryellen, Roger is survived by his sons, Scott (Bianca) Hausauer, Sean (Michele) Hausauer, and his daughter, Shannon (Derek) Worley; his grandchildren, Mya, Dominic, MaryElle, Olivia, Jack, Hunter, and Dylan; his sister, JoAnn Hausauer; and his stepmother, Norma Gens-Hausauer. He is predeceased by his father, Harold Hausauer; mother, Patricia Hausauer; and sister, Carol Hausauer.
