Ronald WALTHER Obituary

Walther - Ronald R.
Ronald R. Walther, age 90, of St. Augustine, Florida, passed away on April 15, 2022 at the Bailey Family Center for Caring. He was born and raised in Buffalo, New York. After high school he served his country in the U.S. Army. Ronald then worked as an arbitrator for Bethlehem Steel for over 30 years. He was later employed by the Buffalo Children's Hospital as the Director of Personnel for 15 years. After retiring, he and his wife, Christine, would visit Naples, Florida in the winters. He permanently moved to Florida to be nearer to his daughter when his wife passed in 2014. In 2017, he, along with his daughter, moved to St. Augustine to be even closer to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ronald was an avid athlete and lover of all sports. He was a great hockey player, and enjoyed playing tennis and golfing with his wife, Christine. He will be remembered by his friends as a wonderful host to many legendary parties and by his family as a loving man who would never throw a game of cards in someone's favor, no matter how fond he was of them. He is survived by his daughter, Dawn Reuther; grandchildren, Nicholas Reuther (and wife, Natalie) and Christopher Reuther; and his great-grandchildren, Tristan, Tippi and Tate. He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Walther; son, John Walther; and grandson, Chad Reuther. St. Johns Family Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Some of my fondest memories are of playing tennis with Ron and Chris in West Seneca and at their beautiful (made by Ron) tennis court in their back yard. Oh what great parties they could hold. Prayers and thoughts of sympathy to the family who I know he loved so well. Love lives...

Please accept my condolences in the loss of your Dad. I worked with him at Bethlehem Steel for many years and about a couple of months ago he called me and we had a nice chat for almost 1/2 hour. I miss having conversations with Chris and he every now and then. Great guy you had as a dad.

Dawn and Family, It is with great saddness I no longer will enjoy weekly visits with CHIC, that began in Oct 2014, weeks after your dear Mom, Chris passed. Both my Dad and I worked in same bldg at BSCorp with Chic from his start in 1963, mine in 1966 and my Dad, Paul Weber in 1946, It was wonderful to reunite in 2015 with Chic and Dawn in Naples for dinner and a great visit. He will be missed by many he spoke with via phone, his lifeline to Buffalo. But, we rejoice knowing he "ran the good race" and is now at HOME in HEAVEN with HIS LORD and his Chris , son John, grandson, Chad. May they await the rest of you with great joy.
Well done, Dawn, the care and lodging you always provided your Dad. He loved you a great deal.
