Passed away on September 9, 2022 at the age of 87, at his beloved home in Elma. Russell is survived by his beautiful wife, Dr. Judith Bondurant-Utz. He is also survived by his three independent-minded daughters, Tamara (Jon) Wangelin, Kim (Ernie) Santariello, Deb (Jim) Coatsworth; six grandchildren, Samantha (Gabriel) Vidal, Andrea Santariello, Jay Santariello, Steven Hart, Rob Coatsworth, Sam Coatsworth; and one great-grandchild, Aubriella Vidal. Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Russell Denny and Agnes Louise Studebaker Utz and Mable Francis Moore. Early in Russell's educational career, he was Headmaster of the Embassy School in Yaounde, Cameroon for two years. Russell received his Doctorate degree from the University of Michigan. Go Blue! He was Director of Student Teaching and Assistant Professor in the Business Department at Buffalo State College. Russell served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. Once Russell retired from the college he owned and managed several properties in the Buffalo area. Russ loved to play tennis, golf and was dedicated to running in the Turkey Trot every Thanksgiving. He also loved literature. His passion in life was working on his home he lived in and later in life feeding donuts to his beloved dog, Sophie. Visiting hours for Russell are 4-7 PM, Friday, September 23 at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 94 Buffalo Road, East Aurora NY. A Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 24 at 10 AM followed by a reception for family and friends will be held at the Unitarian Universalist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the WNED Foundation or WBFO Radio
