Badding, Victor George
December 15, 1935 - October 3, 2025
Victor George Badding, 89, of Cortlandt Manor, New York, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born and raised in Buffalo, he carried with him the values of his Western New York upbringing throughout his long, full life. Victor graduated from St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and earned his B.S. from Canisius College before completing his Ph.D. at the University of Notre Dame. In 1965, Victor moved to Cortlandt Manor, where he began what would become a distinguished teaching career at Manhattan College. A lifelong scholar, he had a profound love for chemistry-a discipline that fueled his curiosity and guided his academic work-and he delighted in sharing that passion with his students. He was a proud member of Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society, and a member of the American Chemical Society, reflecting his commitment to scientific inquiry and professional excellence. After 36 years at Manhattan College, he retired and was granted the title of Professor Emeritus of Chemistry. Victor was predeceased by his parents, Veronica (Juchnowski) and Victor F. Badding; his sisters, Catherine E. Badding and Mary Margaret Doctor (and her husband, Gary); and his son, John Victor Badding. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Michael E., and his wife, Margaret R.; and his daughter-in-law, Mizue. He was the proud grandfather of four grandchildren, Edward D., Michael R., Catherine K., and Margaret E. Badding. He is also survived by his nephews, Mark and Dustin Doctor. A man of deep curiosity, Victor had a lifelong fascination with geography, especially the history of canals and river systems. Above all, he cherished his family, especially his beloved wife, Nancy. Victor will be laid to rest on Friday, November 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., at Saints Peter & Paul Cemetery, 264 South Union Road, Williamsville, New York.
