Michael Lee Husmann peacefully passed from this life on January 16, 2023. He was born to the late E. Dale and Arlene Jones Husmann on June 9, 1941, in Dexter, Iowa.
He was married to Arlene Pinkley Husmann a.k.a. Fred on June 16, 1962, in Branson, Missouri.
Mike was an avid photographer, ham radio operator (WB0JEN) and traveler, and he loved his cats. He enjoyed taking vacations and seeing many sights, especially on his trips to New Zealand. He had many life-long friends and enjoyed sending out an elaborate Christmas card full of pictures and stories about his year. He loved watching Dallas Cowboys and Alabama football and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.
Mike was the voice introducing his daughter Kathie's family band, Lindley Creek; and he was their biggest fan. He enjoyed going to as many shows as possible, especially during the winter in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas.
He was a loving and encouraging presence in his daughters' lives and for all his grandchildren. He lived large and was a friend to everyone he met.
Mike served in the Army and spent many years working in radio and television broadcasting including KOLR-10 TV and Voice of America. He also taught broadcasting for the Vo-Tech school in Buffalo, Missouri, where he was a positive and motivating influence on his students' lives.
He enjoyed raising his daughters on the farm during their school years.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Arlene; daughters, Kathie (John Rob) Greer and Mary (Ed) Vest; grandchildren, Tate (Kelsi) Greer, Garrett Vest, Justin Vest, Jase (Caroline) Greer, and Katie (Nate) Greer Hutson; great-grandchildren, Kana, Kora, Kimber, and Kennedi Greer.
A memorial service will take place Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Grandview Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri with Pastor Gary Longstaff officiating.
