Peggy Kay Obituary

Peggy N. Kay met her Savior, Jesus Christ on May 23, 2023. She was born June 1933 in
Gotebo, Oklahoma to Neal and Mabel Medders. She was preceded in death by her husband,
Daniel H. Kay and daughter, Patricia Kay, by her parents, her brother, LaRue Medders (Evelyn),
her sister, Nelda Goodwin (Bob).
She is survived by her son, Rodney Kay (Pam) Buffalo, MO, and daughters, Cindy Hardin
Buffalo, MO, Melinda Merijanian (Randy) Montgomery, AL, Melissa Scott (Dan) Springfield, MO,
Alecia Bradley (Buddy) Marshfield, MO, Julie Jason (Colin) Buffalo, MO, six grand- and three
great-grandchildren and her brother, Gaylen Medders (Lynette) Wichita, KS.
After high school she met Daniel, a handsome Air Force man who became the love of her life.
They married after a three month's courtship and had a loving thirty-two year marriage.
Throughout her life, she reveled in the work that brought her the most joy and fulfillment; that of
being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
After living in New York State, Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma, Daniel and Peggy moved to
Buffalo Missouri in 1971. They lovingly hand-built their home where Peggy lived for fifty-two
years. They purchased Hip Pocket Pizza Parlor in 1980 and after the untimely death of her
husband in 1985; she and her eldest daughter, Cindy became business partners. She worked
for St. John's Hospital's Home Health Care Division as an administrative assistant for twenty
plus years before retiring at the age of eighty-three.
Peggy had a life-long relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ and wanted everyone to know
that He was her rock and salvation. She was a loving, caring and gentle spirit with a twinkle in
her eye, but stood her ground when needed. Her warmth and love for people was endearing;
many who were not family called her mom or grandma. No matter the diversities along life's
journey, she always kept a grateful heart and genuine smile. Her precious memory will live in
our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Calvary Chapel, 26 Oak Ridge Rd. in Buffalo, MO
on Tuesday July 25, at 10:00 a.m. Peggy will be laid to rest in a brief ceremony at the
Springfield National Cemetery, 1702 E. Seminole St. in Springfield, MO with her beloved Daniel
promptly at 2:00p.m. Please arrive by 1:45p.m.
In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Bennett Spring Christian Church Camp located
