Janice Underdahl Obituary

SOLON - Janice Kathleen (Knight) Underdahl, 64, passed away in her home from natural causes on Oct. 31 in Solon. A memorial service will be held in West Union at the Burnham-Wood Funeral Home with visitation at 2 p.m. and the memorial service at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11.
Janice was born in West Union on March 26, 1947 to Fred "Garland" Knight and Julia "Mary" (Roach) Knight. Janice and her family lived in West Union, Independence, Greeley Colo., Winona, Minn., and Clive before she moved to Solon, where she lived for the rest of her life.
Janice is survived by her three children: Eric (Denise) Underdahl and their children Sofie, Ava and Wyatt, of Allen, Texas; Melanie (Corey) Seitz and their children Zach and Jake, of Fort Collins, Colo.; and Michele (Kurt) Hanson and their children Benjamin and Kate, of Rochester, N.Y. Janice is also survived by her siblings: Jane Marshall of West Union, Jeanette (Dale) Buenzow of Marion, Judy (Crayton) Ash of Elgin, Jim Knight of Eagan, Minn., Joanne Frey of West Union, Joe (Judy) of Mount Vernon, Julie Eckhoff of Humboldt, a brother-in-law, Paul Sieverding of Lynnhaven Fla., a sister-in-law, Mary Knight of Solon, ex-husband Tim Underdahl of Waterloo, beloved dog Sam, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Janet Sieverding, a brother, Jerry, three brother-in-laws, Don Marshall, Dennis Eckhoff, Joe Peters, and a sister-in-law, Connie Knight.
Janice was gifted and talented at many things. She made a wonderful home. She was very passionate about cooking and decorating and loved sewing with her granddaughters. She loved movies, music and was an avid reader as well as a master gardener. She was blessed with a great sense of humor which made her a joy to be around and always had a warm smile, an inviting laugh and a welcoming hand. She was a devoted wife, sister and friend, but most of all she was an incredible mother and grandmother. She was very proud of the job she did in raising her children. She shared her gifts not only with her family, but also with her friends and the communities in which she lived. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Melanie Seitz at 1019 Club View Road, Ft. Collins, Colo. 80524. The memorials will then be distributed to multiple charities that were dear to Janice.
The Burnham – Wood and S.K. Rogers Funeral Home in West Union is in charge of arrangements.
