ELMIRA, N.Y. – Tena Johnson, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, departed this world on May 31, 2023, at the age of 42. She was surrounded by the love of her family as she peacefully passed away. Tena's departure has left a void in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life for Tena will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 12 at VFW Post 2440, 128 3rd Street NE, Independence.
Born on October 6, 1980, in Marshalltown, Iowa, Tena was the loving daughter of Dan and Nancy Slocum. She grew up alongside her dear brother, Tony, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime.
Tena found her soulmate in Jeremiah Johnson, and their love was a shining example of devotion and strength. They created a beautiful life together and faced its joys and challenges hand in hand. Tena's passing leaves Jeremiah with a heavy heart, filled with cherished memories of their time together.
Tena's true pride and joy resided in her three children, Arianna, Garrett, and Logan. She was their biggest cheerleader, attending every game, recital, and performance with enthusiasm and love. Tena's unwavering support and encouragement helped shape their lives, instilling in them the values of dedication, perseverance, and compassion.
Professionally, Tena found fulfillment working at Able2 as a dedicated medical coder and billing specialist. Her attention to detail and passion for her work earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues. Tena's professionalism and commitment to her role were evident in the quality of her work, making a positive impact on the lives of those she served.
Beyond her professional life, Tena enjoyed participating in her weekly pool league, where she formed lasting friendships and made cherished memories.
Tena had a special place in her heart for animals, particularly her beloved dog, Witten. Their bond was one of unconditional love and companionship. Tena's nurturing nature extended to all creatures, big and small, and her kindness left a lasting impact on the lives of those around her.
Tena Johnson will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her husband, Jeremiah; their children: Arianna, Garrett, and Logan; parents, Dan and Nancy Slocum; brother, Tony; mother-in-law Brenda; sister-in-law, Huong; and her niece and nephews, Nhi, John, and Donovan.
