Myrol Duaine (Brown) Genthe was born in Burlington, Colorado on Jan. 28, 1927 and passed away in her home on Sept. 5, 2022.
Myrol was born to Dean and Lila (Ragan) Brown in her Grandfather Ragan's home in Burlington and was delivered by her Grandmother Brown.
Her parents moved around a lot when she was growing up so Myrol attended several different schools. She started school at Prairie View Country School, then various other schools including, Burlington school, Fairmont and Wyman in Denver, Stanberry, Mo., and Steamboat Springs.
During her 6th grade year, while singing and dancing in a program at Fairmont School, Charles E Whiting, a well-known musician in Denver, took an interest in her. He introduced her to Barnes Children's Theatre. Myrol tap danced and sang during her performances at Barnes.
Her 7th grade year, she moved to Stanberry, Mo. She was very happy there and loved living with her grandparents, aunt, and cousin. While living in Missouri, she performed at many different venues in Stanberry and also at a café in Gentry.
Her 8th grade year took her back to Denver and Myrol was once again performing at Barnes Children's Theatre.
At the end of her sophomore year, Myrol, who some will know by her nickname, Penny, moved back to Burlington.
While attending Burlington High School, she met the love of her life, Harold Genthe. What a love story! Harold and Myrol dated throughout high school and graduated together from BHS in 1945.
Harold and Myrol were united in marriage Aug. 24, 1947 and celebrated 66 years of marriage.
Their lives were blessed with three children, Randy Lee, Kristy Davonne and Linda Kay. Together they lived and raised their family on a farm north of Burlington.
Not only was Myrol a loving and devoted wife, an incredible mother, precious grandmother, and a true friend, she was an amazing example of God's love. She loved unconditionally and forgave easily. It didn't matter who you were or how long she had known you, you were genuinely loved and cared about.
She also loved making people laugh and had a great sense of humor.
Naturally being a farm wife included helping during harvest, driving truck when needed, and helping take care of the animals.
In 1975, Myrol worked as a bookkeeper, clerk and cashier at Western Auto. She later worked for DDI and truly enjoyed working with the clients.
Myrol loved music and life. In fact, no matter what was going on, if someone asked her how she was feeling, she'd respond, "I'm wonderful!" and meant it. And finally, she would want us all to remember that "Life is beautiful!"
Myrol was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Genthe, her mother, Lila (Ragan) Rule and stepfather, John Rule, and her daddy, Dean Brown, and step-mother, Pauline.
She leaves behind to mourn her passing, her children, Randy (Lana) Genthe, Kristy (Mike) Curtis, and Linda (Mike) Bates.
Six grandchildren, Gage Curtis, Rainn Curtis, Daniel (Emily) Genthe, Scott Genthe, Kelly Bates and ShaiLyn Bates, and three great-grandchildren, Nickolas Bates, Patricia Bates and Zachary Behrman.
