Craig Jensen Obituary

Craig Alan Jensen

Age: 47

Craig Alan Jensen, 47, passed away on Monday, March 13, 2017. He was the wonderful and caring father of Eva, 11, Liberty, 6, and Genevieve, 3, and was married to Elizabeth Jensen (née Mieczkowski). Other living relatives include a sister, JanLee Jensen, who lives in Los Angeles, California and a mother, Joanne Jensen, a Shelburne resident. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Anton Jensen in September 1980, and his brother, Douglas Steven Jensen in June 2001.

Craig was born September 12, 1969 in Sacramento County, California, and went to grade school in Malvern, Pennsylvania and Los Alamos, New Mexico before moving to Logan, Utah in 1982, where he later graduated from Logan High School, as a Sterling Math Scholar. As a teenager and young adult, he loved mathematical theory, computers, developing computer games and occasionally challenging others to break secret codes that he wrote. He had a playful attitude and a joy of life that was exhibited in his many endeavors. His university training included a bachelor's degree at Utah State University, a master's degree in mathematics at the University of Wisconsin, and a Ph.D. in mathematics from Cornell University. He married Elizabeth on May 25, 2002, and moved to Louisiana where he became a tenured professor of mathematics at the University of New Orleans. In 2015, Craig and Elizabeth decided to move to Shelburne, VT, and Craig accepted a position lecturing in mathematics at St. Michael's College. He has enjoyed his students at St. Michael's since then, and will be sorely missed by all.

Family and colleagues have arranged some celebrations of his life that involve those who knew him well.
