David A. Stewart Jr.

Ripton - David A. Stewart Jr., 68, of Ripton, Vt., passed away peacefully on August 2, 2018, surrounded by his family. Dave was born on July 9, 1950, in Oneonta, N.Y., the son of David and Marilou (Parsons) Stewart Sr.

In 1973 Dave and Wendy (Benson) Stewart were married and moved to Addison County, Vt. where they shared their lives together raising three children. In the 1970's and 80's they farmed in Monkton and Benson, breeding Highland cattle and Scottish Blackface sheep. Dave was an avid cross country skier, cyclist, and vegetable gardener.

Survivors include Dave's wife, Wendy; children, Jane (Casey), David (Haley), and Mary; mother, Marilou; sister, Deborah; brother, John; grandchild, Oscar; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to an informal celebration of Dave's life on Saturday, August 18, at Dave and Wendy's new home, 456 Washington, St. Ext. in Middlebury, VT. Guests are welcome to visit and share memories of Dave any time between 2:00 and 5:00 PM. Dave will be laid to rest by his family in a private burial in Oneonta, N.Y.

The family has designated the Catamount Trail Association for any contributions in Dave's memory: Catamount Trail Association, 1 Mill Street, Suite 350, Burlington, VT, 05401.
