Josephine Curry Obituary

Josephine Park Curry

Burlington - Josephine Park Curry, 83, of Burlington died January 25, 2021 with her family by her side.

Josephine was born in Schenectedy, NY September 8, 1937, the daughter of Dr. Orla J. Park and Amelia Griffin Park.

She graduated from Glens Falls High School (NY), Trinity University in San Antonio, TX..

Josephine married Jack Curry on December 29, 1962 in Hudson Falls NY. Together they had three boys, Jason, Daniel & Jonathan, filling their home on South Crest Drive.

Josephine is survived by her husband Jack, sons Jason (Lisa Greeenough) and Daniel (Sarah Strouse), her daughter-in-law Holly (Treiber), her six grandchildren Jacob, Thomas, Jack, Amelia, Elizabeth and Jane. She is predeceased by her son Jonathan, and her sisters Mercy Park Asplund and Margaret Park Hard.

Her many years working side by side with Paul Trono at Balfour, were dear and happy for her. Likewise, for over 30 years being the ever constant 'ticket lady' at so many UVM games gave her joy, purpose and exposure to so many workmate friends and loyal Catamount fans.

Josephine was a beloved mother, wife, sister, friend, confident. She was the caretaker of so many. Whether lunching at the Elks Club with Mary, Jimmy & the Robinsons, playing on a tennis court with her close knit "tennis ladies" or teeing up with her best friend Nancy Crowley, Josephine was constant in her friendship just as she was in her love and support of her family. A woman of quiet grace, spotlessly clean language, and upright integrity, she improved the lives of those around her.

Due to COVID no services will be held but, if you wish, remember Josie by singing a favorite of her little boys from so very long ago, "You are my Sunshine…"

Jo was part of my tennis group for only a few years, but I admired, respected and enjoyed her so much. She was always enthusiastic but never took winning or losing too seriously. Her energy was amazing. After being diagnosed we met with her a few times off court and her attitude and perspective were something I'll long remember --so admirable and inspirational. I will miss her presence very much on the tennis court. Sympathy to all her family. Julia Blake

Josephine’s passing has left a massive hole with the UVM Ticket Office family. I have worked alongside her for almost 17 years. Jonathan was a former youth football and baseball teammate as well. I will miss Jo terribly. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Curry Family. If you ever need anything, do not hesitate to ask.

To the curry family: We were so saddened to hear of your mother’s passing. It flooded us with beautiful memories of our days as neighbors on Porters Point when you all were at camp during the summer months. Her smile was infectious, and her calmness was always present when she was with her boys! She was a remarkable lady, and all that were graced by her presence will miss her. Our deepest condolences going out to her family. Gary and Linda Dion

Mrs. Curry was a formidable and influential adult and carer for all who knew her sons. I will always remember her indomitable and incomparable way of speaking, from another time, yet right now!!! She was great. A great person. My best to the Currys.

Dear Dan and family,
Marty and I send our heartfelt sympathy to you and yours as you mourn the loss of your beloved. The photo you shared of your Mom captures her spirit and that glowing smile that always radiated from her face. I always enjoyed chatting with her when she attended the picnics at the plateau. May the special memories held in the heart help navigate the difficult road ahead.
