JOSEPHINE D. GALLE

JOSEPHINE D GALLE - WINOOSKI - Josephine D. Galle, born Feb. 17, 1923, to Frank Dinardo and Antoinette Perrotta, passed away after a brief illness on March 9, 2012. She married the love of her life, Victor F. Galle on June 4, 1948, in Bronx, N.Y. In addition to being an accomplished homemaker and cook, Josie was blessed with the ability to see humor in all things and to bring joy and happiness to all those around her. She loved to regale and to be regaled by family and friends with stories. She was blessed with an incredible strength and self-confidence and often shared memories that recounted humorous or embarrassing events from her own life. She was an inspiration not only to her own family, but all who met her. She epitomized the golden rule throughout her entire life and treated everyone she met with kindness and respect, making sure that she always acknowledged and thanked each person she came in contact with right up until the very end. Her calming demeanor and welcoming personality made strangers feel like friends and every individual who crossed her path was made to feel as if they were the most important person in the world. The sparkle of her eyes and her contagious laughter made each and every opportunity to visit or speak with her a joy to all those who were fortunate enough to know her. She loved to listen to music and shared this love with her many children and grandchildren. Her welcoming personality made her home a favorite stop for many of her children's friends and it was not uncommon for those friends to pause and converse with her at great length during each visit as she was a great communicator with all ages. She is survived by Victor F.; Mark P. and his wife, Paula; John A. and his wife, Mary; and Cindy Galle and her husband, Tim Cutler. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Anthony Galle, Sarah Galle, Jason Galle, Victoria Baptiste, Frank Baptiste, Maria Galle, Katherine Galle, and Benjamin Cutler. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Brian Galle. She was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara G. Baptiste. Visiting hours will be on Monday, March 12, 2012, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St. in Winooski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 13th at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Francis Xavier School, 5 St. Peter Street, Winooski, VT 05404.
