RAYMOND BEGINS Obituary

RAYMOND W. BEGINS - ALBURGH - Raymond W. Begins, 66, of Alburgh, died peacefully with loving family at his side on Friday, July 11, 2014, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a short illness. Raymond was born in Colchester on May 7, 1948, the son of Raymond and Marie (Francis) Begins. He served his country proudly for the United States Army during the Vietnam War. On Aug. 19, 1967, he married Cathleen (Chandler) Begins at St. Pius X in Essex Center. Raymond was formerly employed at Pike Paving, and owned and operated LaMarche's Quik Stop in Winooski, Begins Sunoco in Essex, and the Huntington Garage. He was a member of the Eagles Club, VFW, American Legion, and the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, horseshoes and bowling. Raymond is survived by his wife of 46 years, Cathy Begins; two daughters and their husbands, Christine and Francis "P.J." Jarvis, and Rae Anne and Kevin St. Pierre; grandchildren, David Bartlinski Jr., Francis Jarvis III, Dylan Begins, Michael Bruce, and Madison St. Pierre; one great-grandson, Seth Bartlinski; two special aunts and uncles, Judy and Bernie Fitzpatrick, and Phyllis and Winnie Howard; and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his parents; and brother, Ricky Begins. Raymond's family wish to offer their sincere gratitude to the Veterans Administration doctors and nurses. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, July 15, 2014, from noon to 2 p.m., with funeral services beginning at 2 p.m., at the LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St. in Winooski. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Essex Center. Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.lavignefuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Diabetes Association VT Affiliate, 77 Hegeman Avenue, Colchester, VT 05446.

Raymond I will never forget you. I guess my best memories of you was when we were children and we stayed on Lake Carmi for the summer and your folks had a small store there. Those were the best thoughts of you. I still think of you and your parents.

So very sorry to hear of Ray's passing. We always laughed over my sister and I fishing with Ray when we were little He couldn't figure out why the fish were not biting until he caught us feeding the fish the worms. So many nice memories of Lake Carmi. He is with his mom and dad now. Kathy you have so many memories of him. He will always be with you.
