RICHARD COREY Obituary

RICHARD P. COREY - WILLISTON - Richard P. "Dick" Corey, 84, passed away on July 15, 2015, in the VT Respite House in Williston following seven months of loving home care from his wife, Eveline. He was born the youngest of five children on Dec. 11, 1930, in Burlington, to Lebanese parents, Eva Diab and Daniel Corey. Predeceasing him are his parents, and four siblings, George, Donald, Emery, and Emma. Dick was very proud of his Lebanese heritage, and family was the most important aspect of his life. A very talented athlete, Dick attended Cathedral High School graduating in 1948 (now Rice Memorial High School), where he excelled in basketball and baseball, and was inducted into the Cathedral-Rice Athletic Hall of Fame. During his adult years, he enjoyed bowling and golf, and was inducted into the VT State Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Professionally, he worked briefly at GE, but his passion was cars. Dick started in sales at Shearer Chevrolet in 1957, and to much enjoyment he sold Chevys for the next 31 years. Dick was described as "a gentleman; a class act with honesty and integrity, and always a sharp dresser!" On Feb. 6, 1960, he married Eveline Boulanger of Orleans, Vt., and they had four children. He leaves behind, Robin Corey, Kimberly Corey, Daniel Corey and his wife, Beth, and Heidi Corey; nieces, Shirley Lieberman, Jeanette Bessette, and Maria Corey; and nephews, Emery Corey Jr. and his wife, Maryann, and William Corey and his wife, Ginnie. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the tireless and compassionate support from the Visiting Nurses, Home Instead Senior Care, and the VT Respite House. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2015, in St. John Vianney Church, with interment to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery. A reception to celebrate Dick's wonderful life will be held immediately following the Mass for family and friends. Arrangements are by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all contributions be given to the VNA or the VT Respite House in Williston.

Not sure what to say?

July 28, 2015

I still remember the first new car I ever bought; a 1968 Chevy Chevelle SS, 325 hp. $ 3,751. My Dad (Mooney/Ray Clavelle Sr.) swung the deal with Dick. Dick was the only guy my Dad would deal with. Mooney sent everyone he knew to Dick and would often negotiate with Dick on behalf of Mooney's friends and relatives.

My Dad died in Feb 2015, but I will always remember the good relationship that he had with Dick.

Truly, the "Good Old Days"

Sending our deepest sympathy, love and prayers for the entire Corey family from Chuck Faverty's family.

As my late daddy would speak of Mr. Corey he would always describe him to be a true man's man; the finest of gentlemen.

Whether you trusted him with your car purchases, interacted with him on a personal level or received the great gift of him as your mentor, he touched all of our lives in notable ways!

July 25, 2015

I am deeply saddened to hear of Dick's passing. Dick Corey was a wounderful man. He was a gentleman, and a very kind person. Dick was an exceptional mentor to me working in the car businees during our time together at Shearer Chevrolet and after he retired. I will miss him greatly!
My heart goes out to the Corey Family.

My parents bought all their cars from Mr. Corey and I purchased my first 2 new cars with him. He was very honest and always listened to what the buyer wanted, not what the dealership needed to get rid of.
