David Custer Obituary

David Custer, 55, of Burnet, TX, passed away unexpectedly on December 21 while at home recovering from surgery.

David pursued life with passion and a commitment to serving his country and community. Shortly after graduating from high school in Corpus Christi, he enlisted in the United States Navy. His tour complete, David began serving as a volunteer for various Volunteer Fire Departments in and around his community.

At the time of his passing, David was employed as a Sales-Manager with 511 Tactical. He was a natural-born salesperson and loved sharing God's Word in fellowship, meeting people and sharing a meal (mostly breakfast). David never met a stranger.

David leaves behind a legacy of love, community, faith, compassion and service. He adored his wife Dawn and his children, Elisabeth Kelley (Blake Kelley), Brandon Custer (Savannah Custer), Caden Custer and Cody Custer. David's eldest son Brandon followed in his father's footsteps and currently serves his community as a Firefighter/EMT. Cody will tell you his dad was the best father ever. Young Caden reminded us of his father's commitment to God, telling friends and family, "You never know when your time may be up, so always be ready. Make sure you live your life in a way that is pleasing to the Lord." Words his father lived by daily.

Aside from his immediate family David is survived by his mother Patricia Custer, his sister Susan Custer, and niece, Liberty. David was blessed with two loving families, including his mother Sherry Walton, sisters Shana Nardecchia, Tosha Smith (Wendy Wilson), Monic Lassig and nephews, Tyler, Braden and Koen. David was preceded in death by his father, Raleigh Custer.

The family invites you to celebrate the light and life of this incredible husband, son, brother and friend at 10:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2022 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 E. Polk St., Burnet, TX. Please dress comfortably in any Western wear you prefer or in the first responder uniform or clothing representing your commitment to service.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation benefiting the well-being of David's younger children by contributing to an account held by their mother, in their name at any RBank branch or by Venmo to @Dawn-Custer-1.
