David Griffin Obituary

David L. Griffin
David L. Griffin, 63, of McCandless Township died Friday at his residence.
He was born Nov. 12, 1945, in Pittsburgh.
Mr. Griffin was a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and earned his master's degree from the University of Pittsburgh. David was a Loan Compliance Officer with Mars National Bank for 24 years until he retired in October.
David had many accomplishments throughout his life. He was secretary/treasurer for Vision Early Childhood and Mars Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of Mars Redevelopment Commission and was involved with Hosanna Industries and Habitat for Humanity for more than 20 years. David was a "man that loved God with all his heart."
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia R. (McTague) Griffin of McCandless Township; four sons, Mark D. Adkins of Buffalo, N.Y., Brian V. Griffin of Pittsburgh, Pastor Christopher (Kate) D. Griffin of Gibsonia, and Michael O. Griffin of McCandless Township; one daughter, Jennifer E. Griffin-Hitchcock of Hampton Township; four grandchildren, Emilly Griffin-Dunn, Benjamin Griffin-Hitchcock, Reyah Griffin and Ciara Adkins; his mother, Mildred L. Griffin of McCandless Township; two sisters, Kathy (Jim) Griffin Maloney of Frederick, Md. and Patty Griffin-Rubey of Atlanta; and two brothers, Jim (Julia) Griffin of Hartford, Conn. and John (Ann) Griffin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gerard O. Griffin and his niece, Marya Griffin.
Griffin - Visitation for David L. Griffin, who died Friday, Sept. 18, 2009, will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Herbert R. King Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 2841 Woodland Circle, Allison Park.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Allison Park Church, 2326 Duncan Ave., Allison Park, with Pastor Jeff Leake officiating.
Interment will be in Allegheny County Memorial Park, Allison Park.
Memorial donations may be sent to Network of Hope or Hosanna Industries, 109 Rinhart Lane, Rochester, PA 15074.

I send my condolences to David's family. How well I remember summers in Pittsburgh in the Griffin back yard and especially the tree house that both David and John built. And that bell that Mildred would ring when she wanted one of the kids to come home. I think David was 4 rings if I remember correctly. Great memories for me.
