David Weiland Obituary

David N. Weiland
David N. Weiland, 74, of Butler passed away peacefully Sunday morning at his family camp in Kane, Pa.
He was born in Butler on Sept. 7, 1937, the youngest son of the late Joseph Bernard and Florence Marie Eyth Weiland.
Mr. Weiland was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1955 to 1959, and was employed at AK Steel Corp. for 36 years. He retired in 1996 and spent much of his time in Kane.
He was skilled at carpentry, a true jack of all trades, and loved a good project. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved playing horseshoes and spending time with his extended family.
Typically, Mr. Weiland always had to be busy, either doing something at home or helping someone else.
He was a member of the Chicora Moose, a lifetime member of Happy Hunters Hunting Club, and a member of the VFW of Kane, the East Butler Fireman's Club, the Kane Fish and Game Club, and the Unified Sportsmen of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Weiland is survived by his wife, Donna Berlin Weiland, who he married on May 13, 2001.
In addition, he is survived by six children, Daniel Weiland of Franklin, James (Tina) Weiland of Greensburg, Alan (Heather) Weiland of Butler, Aaron (Tammy) Weiland of Butler, Lisa (Kirby) Lotz of Prospect and Lori (Tom) Turner of Chicora.
Five stepchildren also survive him, Gary Berlin of Florida, Robert (Liz) Berlin of South Carolina, Debbie (Bruce) Peterson of Kane, Sue (Don) Weaver of Butler and Jodi (Denny) Walker of Butler.
His seven siblings who survive him, all from Butler, are Virginia Birckbichler, Madeline "Sis" Neff, Norma Jean Kudamik, Donald Weiland, Robert Weiland, Francis "Gabby" Weiland and Leo Weiland.
His 13 grandchildren who survive him are Sam and Ali Lotz, Chad, Cameron, Christian and Chandler Turner, Ryan, Anna and Lucas Weiland, Chloe and Leah Weiland, and Madison and Brayden Weiland.
His eight stepgrandchildren who survive him are Jake Ehrensberger and Ashley Peterson, Ryan and Craig Berlin, Brandon Berlin, Tara Swanson, Kesha Weiland and Kayla Berlin; and 11 great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, David B. Weiland; his step-grandson, Joshua Ehrensberger; his sister, Joan Gibbs, and his brother, Thomas Weiland.
WEILAND - Friends of David N. Weiland, 74, who passed away peacefully Sunday, March 25, 2012, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, Carbon Center. The Rev. Steven V. Neff, pastor, will officiate.
