Derek Codispot Obituary
He was born on Dec. 13, 1980, in Grove City, to Phil Codispot and Carol Bowser Codispot of Harrisville.
Derek formerly was a Commodities Broker at the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, New York, N.Y.
He was Protestant by faith.
Derek was a graduate of Slippery Rock High School's class of 1999 and Penn State University's class of 2004 with a degree in finance.
Derek was an avid sports fan. He enjoyed working out, athletic training and, most of all, spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his two sisters, Tara Bennett and her husband, Jerry, and their children, Bryce, Brooke and Paytyn Bennett, of Grove City and Ashley Codispot of Harrisville; his four brothers, Clifford Codispot and his wife, Kristina, and their children, Jeremy, Kentin, Jada, Mira and Trey Codispot, of East Brady, Quentin Codispot and Dr. Rae Lin Howard and their children, Ashton and Ainsley Howard, of Grove City, Brian Codispot and his wife, Amy, and their children, Natalee and Adria, of Cranberry Township and Brett Codispot and his fiancee, Samantha Barto, of Pittsburgh; his grandmother, Greta Bowser of Grove City; and his two aunts, Sue Detrick and her husband, Chris, and Phyllis Schnur.
Derek was preceded in death by his grandfather, Robert Bowser.
Codispot- Visitation for Derek J.J. Codispot, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Cunningham Funeral Home, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Grove City Alliance Church, 834 North Liberty Road, Grove City, with the Rev. Paul Goodman officiating. Burial will be in Harmony Cemetery, Harrisville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Derek's memory to Grove City Alliance Church/Celebrate Recovery, 845 N. Liberty Road, Grove City, PA 16127.

Derek was one of Poseys' favorites…he played him 8 quarters every game! Derek was one of the most personable young men I have ever met. Gives me comfort knowing the two of them are together again. Great memories. Love and prayers to you all.

To the entire Codispot Family, our hearts break for you at this time of this tragic loss. No words can erase the pain we are all feeling right now. I will always remember Derek when he was younger playing with Shawna, Kelley, and Tara at our house. He was always such a sweet boy with a smile that you could never wipe off his face. That is how I will always remember him. May God take him into his hands and give him comfort and piece that we can only imagine. Derek was a bright light that could fill a room with happiness and laughter. Many of my fondest childhood memories include him.
