In mid-summer, 1967, my wife, myself and our three children rented a house on Franklin a few doors away from Henry, Linda and their kids. Since we were both teaching at SLU, we started hanging around together, and I well remember our many conversations about philosophy, history and religion. Over the years, I always considered that Henry was definitely one of the finer and more intelligent humans I've met and the world is now a bit less because of his passing. Deepest condolences to all who knew and loved this exceptional man.

Liebe Trauerfamilie Lenz,

Linda and Family,
Fond memories of our times together in SR and in Salzburg. As well as a good friend, he was an innovator and leader. He made a lasting impression by opening up a larger world for many. We will miss him.

I have many memories of Henry, since his daughter Susan and I have been friends for over 50 years. (We met in the 4th grade.) I still keep in touch with her since we are "neighbors" in the Carolinas. I remember may stories Susan told of summers in Salzburg. I didn't realize Henry and my mother were born in the same month! My condolences to Linda, Susan, Wanda, Erica, and Sonya.
May his memory be a blessing to you all.

Dr. Lenz offered wonderful travel experiences to Elaine and me that made later independent travel a breeze. What a grand experience, opening up the world to a non-traveler. I still have vivid memories of visiting the monastery, overlooking the Danube, at Melk, Austria, where Henry translated the remarks that the Abbot, OUR TOUR GUIDE, made to the travel group. Thank you, Henry!
