James Roger McGrady, 76, of Penn Township passed away at 3:11 p.m. Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
He was born Jan. 25, 1936, in West Winfield to the late James Richard McGrady and Louella Dietrich McGrady.
Mr. McGrady was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
He worked as a crane operator at Pullman Standard and retired in 1998 from Joy Mining in Warrendale.
James was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 778. He was the past president of the United Mine Workers Local and was a member of the NRA. James enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching sports on TV.
Mr. McGrady is survived by his loving wife, Thalia Eberle McGrady, who he married June 20, 1964; one son, James William McGrady and his fiancee, Christina Mock, of Penn Township; one daughter, Sharon Johnson and her husband, Robert, of West View; three sisters, Joyce Acquaviva and her husband, Richard, of Cranberry Township, Carol Bellaji of Butler and Shirley Morgus and her husband, James, of Johnson City, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, William Eberle and his wife, Barbara, of Hilton Head, S.C.; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
MCGRADY - Friends of James Roger McGrady, who died Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2012, will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler, with the Rev. Merry H. Meloy officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Burial Estates with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, Memorial Fund, 201 E. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001.
