John Schulte Obituary

John H. Schulte, 81, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Oct. 3, 2025.
John was born in McCandless Township on Dec. 2, 1943, and was the son of the late Elmer and Helen (Berry) Schulte.
On July 27, 1968, John married his loving wife of 57 years, Dorothy (Gass) Schulte.
In 1977, John and Dorothy "Dottie" built their present home in Cranberry Township. John was involved in many community firsts, including being a founding member of Cranberry Community United Presbyterian Church (CCUPC), building Cranberry municipal playground, playing in the coed volleyball league, and, more recently, being a founding member of the Cranberry Township Pickleball Association. He loved playing pickleball and he earned a gold medal at the Gamma Pickleball Classic.
John was a proud member of 34 years at St. Peter's Reformed Church in Zelienople, where he served as elder and trustee. He loved and cared for his family and grandchildren, who knew him as "Pap." His compassion for people was shown by helping others.
He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, fishing, traveling, and being with friends and family. John had a love for music and sang in a barbershop quartet, church choirs and the Circle of Friends choir over the years. John was a successful salesman and designer of hydraulics and pneumatics for the S.G. Morris Company until his retirement.
In addition to his wife, Dottie, John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, Kristine (Peter) Butcher, and grandchildren Aidan, Gavin and Ainsleigh; his son, Jason (Rachel), and grandchildren Jackson and Adam; and his sister, Sally (Jack) Cunningham.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Lou Glenz, Ruth Conn, Audrey Franz and Karen Mitchell.
