Joseph A. Boros, 90, of Zelienople died Thursday at the Ellwood City Hospital.
Born May 14, 1915, in McKeesport, he was the son of Stephan and Elizabeth Moore Boros.
Mr. Boros was a longtime member of St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church in Zelienople, where he was the chairman of the Lawn Fete and an usher.
He was an accomplished banjo player, playing in many communities for years. He was a life-member of the Knights of Columbus with 36 years service. He was also a life member of the Hungarian Beneficial Society, where he was a past president and secretary-treasurer, and he was a member of Zelienople Lions Club.
Mr. Boros was a self-employed wholesale poultry dealer, buying and selling live chickens for more than 50 years.
He is survived by his son, Jerome "Jerry" and his wife, Theresa, Boros of Harmony; seven grandchildren, Sharon Mildner, David Biazolor, Shawn Boros, Michelle Johnson Boros, Joseph Boros, Zachary J. Boros, and Alicia G. Boros; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Evelyn Gibson and her husband, Ray, of Jenks, Okla., and Elizabeth Polone of Highland, Ind.
Mr. Boros was preceded in death by his wife, Viola "Vi" Boros, whom he married Jan. 7, 1939, and who died earlier this month on Oct. 5, 2005; a son, Gary J. Boros; and four brothers, Frank, William, Michael and John Boros.
BOROS - Friends of Joseph A. Boros, who died Thursday, Oct. 27, 2005, were received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. today at St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, Zelienople, with the Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial followed in St. Gregory Cemetery, Zelienople.
The Knights of Columbus recited the rosary at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
