Joseph Parent Obituary

Joseph 'Joe' Telesphore Parent, Jr.Joseph 'Joe' Telesphore Parent, Jr., 82, of Hilton Head, died at his home on June 29, 2014. He was born to Joseph Telesphore and Irene Laura (Morin) Parent on Aug 8, 1932 in Falmouth, MA. Joe graduated from Lawrence High School in 1951. Joe served in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1955.  After his discharge from the service, Joe played semi-pro baseball for Falmouth in the Cape Cod League. He was invited to the Chicago White Sox training camp, but he met Carolyn Stansilaus Fleisch and decided to retire from baseball. He and Carolyn were married in 1958. Joe received his AS in Accounting from Bentley College in 1960 and his BS in Business Administration from Suffolk University in 1962. He worked for The Boston Company in Boston, MA for 26 years, ending his career as Senior Vice President of Operations. In 1990 Joe and Carolyn  retired to Hilton Head Island, SC. In retirement, Joe enjoyed playing golf, especially with his "Pelican" group at Hilton Head Country Club. Joe is survived by four children: Joseph Parent III of Nashua, NH; Laura Berkholtz of Sun Prairie, WI; Louis (Carolyn) Parent of Leesburg, VA; and Mark (Kelly) Parent of Franklin, MA. He is also survived by eight grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Hospice Care of the Lowcountry. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM July 9th at St. Francis by the Sea Catholic Church. The Island Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements. wwwtheislandfuneralhome.com.
