Margie VanGorder, 93, passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, at The Addison at Lowrie Place in Butler.
Margie was born Jan. 18, 1932, to the late James and Ethel (Bowser) Green in Butler, the oldest of six children. Margie and her loving husband were married on June 8, 1951.
Margie was a wonderful homemaker, loving wife, dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her three children, five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She loved spending time with her family. Margie loved to roller skate in her teenage years and was pretty talented. She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, hobbies she learned from her own mom. She loved doilies! She also enjoyed doing ceramics and counted cross stitch. Margie had a passion for collecting baby dolls, Hummels, Fannykins, and Precious Moment figurines, along with Dicken's Village and Cat's Meow Houses. Margie and her husband, Jack, had a Florida home for years where they made many friends. She also enjoyed watching and following all of the Pittsburgh sports teams and the PGA … and of course … Hallmark movies … and HGTV.
She was a member of First Baptist Church in Butler.
Margie is survived by her daughters, Karen (Bill) Stevenson, of Davidson, N.C., and Judy (Joe) Marzullo, of Butler; son, Don (Marsha) VanGorder, of Butler; grandchildren, Jason VanGorder, of West Sunbury, Justin VanGorder, of Butler, Michael Marzullo, of Butler, Kari Vandevort, of Butler, and Rachelle Myers, of Davidson, N.C.; eight great-grandchildren, who called her Nana; and one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Merna Patten, of Lafayette Hill, Pa., Joyce (Dave) Shaw, of North Port, Fla., and Carol (Ron) Bowen, of Haymarket, Va.; sister-in-law, Teresa Green, of Butler; and many nieces and nephews.
