Matthew John Dr. Mallary

1985 - 2018

Dr. Matthew John Mallary passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 1. He was 33 years old.
Matthew will be forever remembered by his parents, John and Barb Mallary; his younger sister, Heather; his grandmother, Peg Cosgrove; and his extended family and friends.
Matthew John Mallary was born on Aug. 6, 1985, in Pittsburgh. He was born premature, only weighing 2 pounds, 13 ounces. Matthew was his parent's first born and truly a miracle from the very beginning.
Matthew graduated from Seneca Valley High School in 2004 with honors.
In high school, he was the captain of his soccer team and also played on two premier soccer leagues, the North Stars and the Pittsburgh Strikers. In soccer, he was ranked as one of the best defensive players in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Matthew was also very active in his community as an Eagle Scout. One of the most rewarding experiences he had as an Eagle Scout was to be able to collect school supplies and essential needs for young children in Malawi, Africa, and was able to help hundreds of children in need.
After high school, he went on to continue his education at Gannon University in Erie, where he studied pre-pharmacy.
In college, he was the president of his fraternity, Pi Kappa Alpha. He had so many good memories with his brothers in Pi Kappa Alpha and the charity work that they were able to perform in their local community.
Matthew then attended Idaho State University and graduated in the top five percent of the class as a Doctor of Pharmacy.
While he was attending pharmacy school, he had an internship in Alaska, where he fell in love with the beautiful outdoors of Alaska. That is when he decided after graduation that he would pursue his career as a pharmacist in Eagle River, Alaska, at Fred Meyer.
Matthew loved traveling, seeing the world, hiking, camping, fishing, reading and visiting family. His favorite teams were the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
MALLARY - A memorial service for Matthew John Mallary, who died Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, will be held in honor of his life from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday, Nov. 3, 2018, at Grace Community Church, 9160 Marshall Road, Cranberry Township, with Pastor Bob Zonts officiating.
