Nancy Neyman Obituary

Nancy Sue (Willix) Neyman passed from this life Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, while under hospice care at Quality Life Services - Chicora, after an unexpected illness.
She was born Feb. 27, 1947, in Watertown, N.Y., to Ira Gilbert Willix and Dorotha Mae Rickers, both of whom predeceased her.
Nancy spent her childhood in Alexandria Bay, N.Y., before the family settled in Greentree, Pa. She married and is survived by Gary Neyman, son of George P. Neyman Jr. and Margaret Oesterling Neyman. The couple met at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and developed a friendship over morning coffee at the student union before becoming romantically involved.
They married in July 1967 in Pittsburgh and eventually settled in Marysville, Ohio, where Gary was employed by O.M. Scott & Sons. Son, Timothy Scott Neyman, was born in 1970 and lives in Gunnison, Colo., with his wife, Sarita, and daughter, Olivia. Daughter, Darcy Michelle Neyman Sole (Rob), was born in 1972 and lives in Cumming, Ga., with their daughters, Margaret Peyton and Madelyn Paige. Nancy also is survived by her sister, Susan Hackett (Steve) in Bluffton, S.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
The couple moved from Ohio to Butler in 1990, where Nancy especially enjoyed country living and her retirement from her job with the school system in Marysville. She especially loved cats, and for many years more than one lived happily in her home, especially the Siamese variety. Nancy was a talented musician at the piano and a gifted soprano. She loved singing in the church choir and served as assistant director. She also enjoyed singing in a Sweet Adeline Quartet.
Nancy was an avid reader and loved playing bridge in several monthly games. She also enjoyed Mahjong and played regularly with friends. Nancy was blessed with a sharp sense of humor and was a great conversationalist with a gift for expressing her ideas and opinions. One of her pet peeves was that the teaching of English and phonics apparently had ceased since she went to school and that our language was being absolutely misused by those who presently speak or write for a living. It was not unusual to hear her audibly correct the language misuse she heard on TV.
Nancy was a wonderful wife and mother. While not affiliated with a specific church, she had a strong faith that carried her through her illness. Her presence and personality will be sorely missed by family and friends.
NEYMAN - Per her wish, there will not be a traditional funeral ceremony for Nancy Sue (Willix) Neyman, who died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, but when warmer weather arrives, the family will have a celebration of her life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to THOMPSON-MILLER FUNERAL HOME, 124 E. North St., Butler.
All who knew Nancy are encouraged to share memories and upload photos to her unique remembrance page at www.thompson-miller.com.
