William Barger Obituary

William "Bill" E. Barger Jr., 92, of Sarver, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2025, at Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
Born Feb. 17, 1932, in Oak Ridge, Pa., he was the son of the late William E. Barger Sr. and the late Ethel V. Wolff Barger.
He was a graduate of New Bethlehem High School. He graduated with an accounting degree from DuBois Business College.
He proudly served with the U.S. Army during the Korean era and was stationed in Japan as a communications specialist. He was involved in top secret, clandestine operations.
For over 72 years, he was married to the love of his life, Deretha Elizabeth Neiswonger Barger. Together they built a home in Sarver and raised four lovely daughters.
Bill spent his entire career employed at Allegheny Ludlum Steel, Brackenridge Works, as a yard master in the T&Y department. He retired in 1994.
Billy was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always caught his limit when fishing. He always got a deer. In fact, the family hunting camp was named Four Point Camp after Bill shot the first buck that year.
He was a member of Church of God in Lower Burrell.
He enjoyed camping, gardening, yard work and attending Freeport High School football games. He was an avid Steelers fan.
Surviving are his wife, Deretha Neiswonger Barger; four daughters, Debra (Joseph) Puskar of Natrona Heights, Rhonda (Peter) Schoedel of Sarver, Sandra (Allan) Woolard of Kissimmee, Fla., and Crystal (Robert) Haus of Arnold, Pa.; his sister, Peggy (Pete) Evans of Oak Ridge, Pa.; 20 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and one grandson, Eric James Barger.
