Abel Zamudio Castro Sr.

CASTRO Mr. Abel Zamudio Castro Sr., was called home to our Father in Heaven on May 22, 2009, in a San Antonio, Texas hospital of a long illness, at age 74. He was a resident of Portland, Texas the last few years, a Veteran of the Korean War and a proud U.S. Marine that served his country. He retired as a fire fighter with the City of Corpus Christi, Fire Department, for 27 years after he served with the U.S. Marines. He was also a life member of the V.F.W. Post 2932 of Aransas Pass, Texas.Abel was preceded in death by his parents: father, Henry V. Castro Sr., and mother, Mrs. Paulina Z. Castro.Survivors include his first wife, Elvira Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas and his daughter, Carolyn Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas; his son, Henry G. (Yolanda) Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas, Abel (Kim) Castro Jr., of Houston, Texas, Patrick (Lisa) Castro of Aransas Pass, Texas, Tracy Castro and Adam (Sally) Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas; also survived by his sisters: Diana Ballestros of San Antonio, Texas, Lydia Tuttle, and Genevieve C. Rosales of Corpus Christi, Texas and Gloria (Ben) Lara of Portland, Texas; his brothers: Joe Richard (Celia) Castro of Houston, Texas, George Z. (Janie) Castro and Henry (Mary) Castro of Corpus Christi, Texas and 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.Abel will be fondly remembered by those who crossed his path. He was also a loving father, grandfather and uncle. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Vista Hospice Care and Veterans Affairs Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.Visitation will be Monday, May 25, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Prayer service to be held, Monday, May 25, 2009, at 7:00 p.m., in Cantu Funeral Home Chapel.Funeral Services will be held at Cantu Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 26, 2009.Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, with Military Honors.
