Robert Trusty Obituary

Robert Trusty

Corpus Christi - Robert Dennis Trusty, age 64, lost his battle with lung cancer on December 20th, 2020 with his loving wife by his side.

He was born on October 16th, 1956 to Joyce Kefauver and Roland Trusty in Amarillo, Texas.

At the young age of 16, he met the love of his life Jeanette "Jeanie" Gutierrez who he spent the next 48 years (43 married) creating a life full of loving memories. In 1976, he went to Del Mar and became a welder and spent many years working in Houston in the oil field. In the mid 80's Robert and Jeanie returned to Corpus Christi to raise their family and he started the Trusty Lawn Service which was a very successful business for nearly 30 years. His entrepreneurial spirit kept him striving constantly to find ways to provide and fulfill the dreams he had for his family.

He will always be remembered for his unconditional love and commitment to his family, his tremendous giving heart towards animals, especially strays, and how he would selflessly go out of his way to help complete strangers. He was also known as a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan and it has been said that on the day he passed he went straight to AT&T stadium to help the Cowboys secure a win against the 49ers. He also spent many years creating memories doing the things he loved: bowling, fishing and spending time on the beach with his family.

He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, uncle and friend to many. Robert was preceded in death by his father Roland Trusty and his brother Ralph Trusty.

Robert's memory will live on with his beloved wife Jeanette, his son Robert Trusty and daughter Tina Trusty. His mother Joyce Kefauver, and sisters Barbara Bryan, Patricia Horne and Stephany (Monty) Rodgers. Brother-in-law Roger Gutierrez and Rodney (Maria) Gutierrez, many nieces & nephews and life long friends. He will also be missed by his 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 grand-dogs and countless strays that he would also care for.

Memorial service will be held from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on January 2nd at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, 2409 Baldwin, Corpus Christi, TX 78405 and live stream available at www.corpuschristiFH.com. In Lieu of flowers, Robert would have loved nothing more than for you to donate to your local animal shelter or rescue. He would also plead with you to quit smoking and cherish every day with those you love.

As i was looking through the pictures it really struck me how he always had a ready smile and an open heart. He lived and loved without conditions. The eternal optimist ready to make the world a better place, win big on a scratch off, or find the next internet start up. He bought richness into the lives of so many. He overcame so many hardships and challenges to achieve success in the world, which is evidenced by the love of his family which was the world to him. He will be missed and never forgotten. As his older sister he could drive me crazy, i could never catch him as kids, and i have a lifetime of really great memories. I loved my brother Robert Trusty. I will miss you.
