Robert J. Vanecek

Robert J. Vanecek Robert John Vanecek was born on June 22, 1934. The Lord called him home on October 30, 2012 while planning his next hunting trip. He loved hunting, Astros and Hooks Baseball, Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. He was a lifetime fan of the Sinton Pirates and rarely missed a game. He married the love of his life, Mary Polasek on April 14, 1958, and recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. They raised three children in Sinton. Michael Ray Vanecek and wife Cathy of Sinton, Harvey Vanecek and wife Kathy of Huntsville Texas, Joyce Vanecek Ramirez and husband Ramiro of Corpus Christi. They enjoyed their ten grand children. Samantha, Catherine Marie, Deanna, Courtney, Kimberly, Christina, Diana, Kaitlyn, Nicholas and Roland. He had three sisters, Patsy Vanecek Henley (deceased), Virginia Vanecek Nichols, GeraldineVanecek Dieringer and husband Garland. One brother, Richard Vanecek (deceased). He was preceded in death by his parents Mary Havelka Vanecek and John W. Vanecek.He graduated Salutatorian in 1952 from Sinton High School. He joined the US Army soon after high school. After the army he worked as a auto mechanic at Martin Motors and eventually found his way to CP & L where he retired as Head Maintenance Foreman after 28 years. He stayed busy with everything from coaching Little League Baseball when the boys were young to Acting Treasurer of KJT Society #96 where he was a 75 year member. He was Eucharistic Minister at Sacred Heart Church in Sinton and a member of Sacred Heart Men's Club and a former Parish Council Member.PallBearers are Kenneth Vanecek, Gilbert Polasek, Dan Mercier, E.G. Green, Jerry Swinney and Calvin Meyer. Honorary PallBearers Johnny Mokry, Jaimie Vanecek Garland Dieringer, Gary Valenta and all of The Ex-CP & L employees.Rosary will be Thursday at 7:00pm at the Ritchea-Gonzales Funeral Home in Sinton.
