Serapio Lealdo Sendejo

Serapio Lealdo Sendejo 87, born November 8, 1916 in Bess, Texas passed away June 18, 2004 at a Kingsville nursing home. He graduated from Benavides High School and was a certified teacher from Texas A& I. He married Lucinda Perez de la Garza on December 25, 1936. He was a school teacher in La Sejita and La Copita. Later he joined the US Navy during WWII and was stationed at Laredo, after which he became a cryptographer in Washington, DC. He continued his career in the Naval Reserve and retired as a Lieutenant Commander. After the war he was employed at The Arlington Hall in the agency that became the National Security Agency. He did undergraduate and graduate work at the George Washington University. He rose to the position of Division Director at the NSA, retiring from the Federal Government with thirty years of service. He moved to Falfurrias and resided here until his death. He is preceded in death by his parents Teodoro Z. Sendejo and Virginia C. Rodriguez, his brother Pedro Sendejo, a son Charles James Sendejo of Tulsa, Oklahoma, daughter in law Marianne DeCraene Sendejo. Serapio is survived by his wife Lucinda Perez Sendejo of Falfurrias, son Xavier R. Sendejo of Lake Jackson, Texas Two daughters Rose Matlock of Oklahoma City Lynne Santomartino of Wheaton, Maryland,A sister Guadalupe S. Torres of San Diego, Texas; 13 grandchildren; Marcel, Lucinda, Helen, Kneupper(Chis), Teresa Murray (Eric), Margaret Sendejo. Also Jon (Angela) Matlock, Jenny (Curt) Massengale , Max, Michael (Mary), James and Megan Matlock. And Charles James (Jay) and Corey Joseph Dolina and five great grandchildren. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday June 20, 2004 at the Howard Williams Turcotte Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Monday June 21, 2004 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
