Terry Speed Obituary

Terry D. SpeedCorpus Christi, TXTerry D. Speed, age 57, passed away on Friday, May 20, 2016, at his home after fighting a long and courageous battle with brain cancer.Terry was born on January 11, 1959, to Jerry and Gladys Speed. He graduated from Mary Carroll High School and attended Del Mar College for a couple of years before making a career with Valero Refinery for the past 37 years. Terry was an outdoor enthusiasts who loved fishing, hunting and baseball. He also had a passion for cooking and baking. He was well known for his infamous Banana Nut Bread and Snickerdoodles. Terry will always be remembered for his kind and gentle nature, his great conversations, his awesome cooking and baking skills, his caring devotion to family and friends, as well as always putting other people's needs before his own.Terry was a loving father, son, brother and uncle. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lori Speed Schwabe, grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Leister and Mr. and Mrs. Jimmy Speed.Terry is survived by his son, Colton Speed, his parents, Jerry and Gladys Speed, his sister, Darla Speed Schwabe, his brother-in-law David Schwabe, one niece, Allison Schwabe, three nephews: Brandon Schwabe, Justin Schwabe and Jordan Schwabe; and a multitude of loving family and friends.Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at Seaside Funeral Home.A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, May 23, 2016, at Seaside Funeral Home Chapel.In lieu of flowers the family is asking to send donations to the charity of your choice.To view Tribute, please visit www.seasidefuneral.com
