Wayne Campbell Sr. Corpus Christi, TXSurrounded by family, Wayne Elliot Campbell, a long-time resident of Corpus Christi, went to be with his heavenly father November 15, 2015. Wayne was born May 25, 1929, on a small farm outside of Abilene, Texas. With a twinkle in his eye, he would often tell stories about growing up with no electricity, sleeping in a drawer as a baby and keeping warm in the oven. Wayne was so grateful for being born to good Christian parents, O.B. and Belle Campbell. Wayne's Christian upbringing and personal relationship with Christ would serve as the very cornerstone for his entire life.At an early age, Wayne began playing guitar which led to the opportunity to play in bands and even record his music, so it would always be enjoyed. His love for music and his persistent respect for improving his craft continued into his final years. At family gatherings, Wayne could always be counted on to serenade his loved ones. Wayne was a true musician...one of the greats.Wayne's life was forever changed when he met June Stone on a blind date at a friends home. There they had their first infamous 'rabbit hunting' date. That was all it took. Two weeks later, they were engaged.June and Wayne moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, where they were blessed with three loving sons. Together, they enjoyed, fishing, spending time at their hunting cabin, putting their hearts into their Church Home and spreading the Word and love of Christ. Wayne worked as a store manager at Bonham's Grocery Store for several years before starting with State Farm Insurance in 1963. Wayne's reputation and work ethic consisted of trust, respect, patience and making peace. One of the main tenets of Wayne's life came from one of his favorite scriptures; Ephesians 4:1-3 says, ' I therefore, a prisoner for the lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. 'Wayne Elliot Campbell was a humble and obedient servant of Jesus Christ who will be dearly missed. The world has lost a great light and true Christian example for all to aspire, while heaven has gained a loved child of God.Wayne is survived by his children: Wayne (Jeanette) Campbell, Kevin (Laura) Campbell and Cary Campbell. He is also survived by grandchildren: Kim (Corby) Richardson, Kristi (Andy) Schipper, Jarrett (Liana) Campbell, Kyle Campbell, Jordyn Campbell and Chase Campbell.
