Janice Henderson Obituary

Janice Marie Lavan Henderson, 61, of Cameron died Tuesday, April 5, 2022, in a Temple hospital.  

Funeral services were held on April 16, 2022, at Central Church of Christ. Burial followed in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation and wake were held on Friday at the Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home.

Ms. Henderson was born August 22, 1960, in Cameron to Willie Lavan Sr. and Lizzie Ewing. She had worked in the restaurant business for many years.  She was a member of the Central Church of Christ. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, James Earl Ewing, Gary Dennis Ewing, Willie "Pookie" Lavan Jr. and Nathan Ewing.  

She is survived by son, Derick Lavan Sr. (LaKeitha), and their children, Kaneshia Kelley, Derick "Lil Derick" Lavan, Faith "Faithie" Lavan and great-grandchild, Saniyah Walker, and Andrea "Craig" Lavan Sr. and his longtime companion LeKeisha Gathers, with their children RaeDiance Lavan, Andrea "C.J." Lavan and Ayric-Andrea Lavan; her sisters, Patricia Black, Rosie Allen, Debra Colvard, Alma Faye Hector and Kimberly Lewis; and brothers, Frank Ewing Sr. Jessie Lavan and Bobby Lavan Sr.; longtime companion, Richard Orlando White; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home of Cameron is in charge of arrangements.
