Cecilia Oprean Obituary
age 91, of Canton, passed away on Friday, Aug. 4, 2017, at the House of Loreto. She was born on Malvern, Ohio, on July 30, 1926, to the late, Edward and June (Brown) Friedman. Cecilia was a long time member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society. She was also a member of The Bernadette's. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Theodore M. Oprean II on May 3, 2008; sister, Mary A. Gardner; brother, Edward M. Friedman; brother-in-law, Joseph Gardner; sister-in-law, Bonnie Friedman; and grandson, Matthew James Oprean.
Cecilia is survived by her children: Theodore M. (Celeste) Oprean III, Gerard E. (Sherry) Oprean, Kathleen M. (Steve) Olenick, Martin J. (Darlene) Oprean, and Philip J. (Janette) Oprean; 22 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the House of Loreto for their loving and compassionate care of Cecilia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 14, 2017, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 4940 Tuscarawas Street West, Canton, OH 44708, with Rev. Fr. G. David Weikart as Celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Malvern. Family and friends may call prior to the mass from 9:30 – 10:50 a.m., at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to either St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, House of Loreto, 2812 Harvard Ave. N.W., Canton, OH 44709, or Stark County Right to Life, 2813 Lincoln Way NW, Massillon, OH 44647. Services under the direction of the Mark R. Vrabel Funeral Home of North Canton, Ohio (330-452-4041).
