Daniel Fraser Obituary

Daniel Owen Fraser
took his first steps into heaven on the morning of March 28, 2011. Just as he entered this world loved by all, he left it the same way. Dan was born to Owen 'Bud' Fraser and Sheila Connell on July 5, 1972 in Blythe, Calif. Shortly after, they moved to Montana where their family had originated. He picked up boxing in his teenage years and due to his dedication to physical fitness, loved it and did quite well. He graduated from Hellgate High School in Missoula, Mont. in 1990. After graduation, he joined the Army and served our country in Desert Storm. He was stationed in Germany and West Point. N.Y., where he met and married Laurel Ohm in 1995. In 1996 they were blessed with their first son, Cody Daniel Fraser, and in 1998 their second, Kaleb Joshua Fraser. Dan was overjoyed to be a father and embraced fatherhood. Dan moved to Ohio after leaving active duty service. Laurel and Dan parted ways but he remained in Ohio (where she was from) to be close to his boys. Dan remained close to Laurel's family and worked on and off for her brother and his best friend, Brian, for the last 10 years at Massillon Auto Recycling. Dan married Carrie Polos in 2004 and was a dedicated stepfather to her children, Cody, Cheyenne, and Cierra. Dan started 'Fraser Home Improvement' and worked hard to get it up and running in this tough economy. Dan spent his spare time doing what he loved most…fishing. He passed this passion to his boys and they were known to spend many hours enjoying the lakes and streams together. In July of last year Dan decided to move home to Butte, Mont. These past months were spent re-hashing old friendships and finding his roots again. He quickly fell into the arms of all who loved him. Dan was well known for his quick wit, and a fantastic sense of humor. He will be remembered for his kindness to all. He was never judgmental or selfish, and he went above and beyond to help others.
Dan was preceded in death by his grandparents, L.J. and Lura Connell of Butte, Mont., and Dan and Margaret Fraser of Great Falls. Dan is survived by his sons, Cody and Kaleb Fraser of Dalton; his wife, Carrie Fraser; stepchildren, Cody, Cheyenne, and Cierra, all of Waynesburg; brother, R.J. Fraser of Yuma, Ariz.; sister, Julie Baum of Shepard, Mont.; father, Owen 'Bud' Fraser of Great Falls; mother, Sheila Connell of Butte; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Dan's funeral was held on Saturday April 2, 2011 in Butte, Mont. A time of remembrance will be held for his friends and loved ones at Variety Restaurant at 2843 Lincoln Way E. Massillon (Perry) on Saturday April 9, 2011 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Dan Fraser memorial fund at PNC Bank to be placed in a saving account for his children.

I am so sad to hear of Dan Passing away. I have known him all my life, as he was my neighbor for many years and my Uncle's good friend. I used to watch his boys, and as an adult before he moved waited on him and the boys when they went out to eat at the resturant I worked. I will miss him and send my condolences to his sons, and family. I hope that somehow your hearts can be comforted. -Jessica friedman (Ohio)

We had lots of good times around the firepit as well.We hadnt seen Dan in a while but thought of him and Carrie quite often,as we get older, time just seems to fly by.....and this just makes ya stop and think about how precious friends and life really are!!!!Thank god for all the time we spent with him.....Dan and his whole family will be in our thoughts and prayers!God bless u all!
