Helen Tsaftarides Obituary
Age 92 of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2016. Born in Canton on April 12, 1924 to the late George and Mary (Kessopulos) Aslanides, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pete Tsaftarides; infant brother, Isaac and brother, Abraham “Abe” Aslanides.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Koraes Ladies Society, Seniors and the Pontian Society. Mary was one of the first employees of Higbee's (Dillard's). Helen will long be remembered for her wonderful pastries and her love of casinos and animals, especially her cat Sophia.
She is survived by her sons, James (Ann), Phillip (Mary) Tsaftarides; four grandchildren, Adam and John both of Columbus, Ohio, Pete (Lauren), Nick all of Canton; sisters, Audrey Tsilidas, Georgia (Gust) Antoniades, Penny (Al) Scrimo all of North Canton, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church with funeral services to follow at 10:00, Rev. Dr. Daniel Rogich officiating. Internment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
