Donald Evans, 81, of Canton passed away on Friday March 27, at Aultman Compassionate Care. Born in Canton on May 11, 1944, he was the son of the late Eugene and Sara (McCort) Evans. A proud 1962 graduate of Perry High School, Don carried with him the values of perseverance and commitment throughout his life. He honorably served his country in the United States Army, where he achieved the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4), an accomplishment that reflected his discipline and dedication to service. Don devoted 34 years of his career as a machinist at Timken Steel and Bearings, where he was known for his skill, reliability, and unwavering work ethic. Outside of work, Don found his greatest happiness in the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, the thrill of drag racing, and spending time in nature. Whether in the woods or at the track, he appreciated the excitement and peace those moments brought him. His faith was also an important part of his life, and he found comfort and community in attending church. Don will be remembered as a hardworking man who valued his country, his faith, and the life he built through determination and grit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Connie (Lewis) Evans; 2 sons Dennis (Heidi) Evans of Columbus and Dan (Stacy) Evans of Hudson Oaks, TX; sister Carol Grubb of Uniontown; 2 grandchildren Nick (Lindsey) Evans, and Ethan Evans; 1 great-granddaughter Eliza; 2 nieces Michelle and Heidi; as well as other loving family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church (3757 Lincoln Way E. Massillon, 44646) on Saturday, April 4th at 1 pm.
