Donald Levi Evans, age 71, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at his daughter's home in the comforting presence of his loved ones. Born on October 4, 1954, in Savannah, Georgia, Donald led a life characterized by hard work, steadfast determination, and a sense of humor.
Donald’s career in construction was marked by a notable tenure as co-owner and operator of G&E Construction, a company he helped build and nurture for over 35 years. His commitment to his craft remained unwavering until health challenges necessitated his retirement. Throughout his professional journey, Donald was known for his skill and reliability; qualities that left a lasting impression on colleagues and clients.
Outside of work, Donald found joy in fishing and hunting, pastimes he cherished deeply. More than anything, however, he treasured the time spent with his family. His stubborn resolve and quick wit made a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Donald is survived by his daughter, Crystal Robertson, and her partner Eric Caulk, who provided care and companionship in his final days. He also leaves behind his stepchildren Allen Powell and Sam (Josh) Bennett, and was a proud grandfather to Jonathan Carmichael, Hunter Robertson, Beau Bennett, and Jace Bennett; and great-granddaughter, Elodie Hall. He also leaves behind his siblings, Danny Griffis, Robert (Katrina) Griffis, and John Sanford, Sr. A constant through many years was his close friendship and business partnership with Marvin Godwin, spanning over five decades.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, O.D. Evans and Pauline Griffis; and his brothers, Charles Evans and Jack Sanford.
Donald Levi Evans lived a life with dedication, humor, and love. He will be remembered respectfully by those whose lives he touched, both through his professional accomplishments and his enduring role as a cherished family member and friend.
