James Schneider Obituary

James Russell Schneider
age 86, passed away on Feb. 12, 2011 after a brief illness. Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was a veteran of World War II serving as a Staff Sgt. in Europe with the Army Corp of Engineers. After graduating from Ohio State University in 1952 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Canton in 1962 where he was vice president of Standard Plumbing and Heating until his retirement in 1986. Member of The American Legion, Masonic Lodge, Independent Order of Foresters, Plumbers and Pipefitters Union, Shady Hollow Country Club and The Church of the Covenant where he served in many capacities. Preceded in death by his mother and father, Agnes Nemec and Arthur Schneider; his brother, Arthur Schneider Jr., and his half sister, Marcia Schneider.
Survived by his wife of 65 years, Lucille (Lucy) Schneider; daughters and son-in-law, Sandy Mennell, Sharon Buxton, Linda (Schneider) and Dr. Ed Waldo; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; half brothers, Robert and Richard Schneider.
A memorial service officiated by Dr. William Watt will be held at the Church of the Covenant (Presbyterian) on Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011 at 11 a.m. The family will greet friends one hour before and following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 1815 W. Market Street, Suite 301, Akron, OH 44313 and The Church of the Covenant, 3014 Fulton Dr. NW, Canton, OH 44718. Our family would like to thank the staff of St. Luke Lutheran Home and Mercy Medical Center for their care and support. 'Jim loved his family, golfing, working in the garden and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.'

Mrs. Schneider, this is Mary Ann (Edwards)Parr. Sandy and I were best friends in high school. You and Mr. Schneider helped me so much when I was a senior in High School when my mom died. My sympathies to all of you. God is with you all the step of the way.
