age 54,
died Wednesday. He was a life resident of Canton. Survived by his wife and best friend, Dr. Kathy M. Haupt; sister and brother-in-law, Jill and Ric Shultz of Tarpon Springs, Florida; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John E. and Belinda Haupt and James W. and Kathy Haupt all of Canton; mother-in-law, Patricia L. Marshall of Mason, Ohio; two brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, James E. Marshall of Maineville, Ohio and Charles J. and Lisa Marshall of Southlake, Texas; many cherished nieces, nephews, friends; and Jeff and Kathy's dogs, Banner and Spirit. Preceded in death by his parents, John E. and Betty L. Haupt; father-in-law, James E. Marshall; and a nephew, William Joseph Haupt. Services will be Sunday at 12 Noon in the Lamiell Funeral Home with Rev. James Patrick Ragon officiating. Burial will be private. Friends may call Saturday from 3-7 P.M. Dear Haupt Family,
I am deeply saddened by Jeff's passing. He never knew a stranger. He was a deeply spiritual man, and I know he is in heaven now. One time he said to me, "don't trust me, trust God."
I have great memories of Jeff, coming into court and saying hello with a big smile to everyone from the custodian to the clerk. He was a kind man with great wisdom. He will be dearly missed.
I will always remember the dogs and Kathy at the office while I waited for Jeff and how comforting it was to have family around.
Jeff was a beautiful, special man inside and out and I will always remember him. Rest in Peace, Friend.

Jeff was a bright light in an often times dark world. He had an infectious smile and an impish grin that made him unforgettable and fun to be around. Many that attained the business success that Jeff did become stodgy and unapproachable, but Jeff was always Jeff. Simply a great guy to be around. Many, many people will miss him. Jim, John, and Kathy, so many people share your pain and wish there was something that they could do to make it easier. There are no words to ease pain like this. Jeff left a proud legacy and an example of how we all should interact and treat each other.

This is so hard for us to believe. Jeffrey has always been there for us for counsel and guidance as an attorney and friend. Always a big hug when running into him. I know you are blessed with many, many memories...One that sticks out in my mind is the one night (for some reason I was able to stay awake) to watch David Letterman and I had to rub my eyes because there on his show was JEFFREY HAUPT form Canton.......That was unbelievable!!!!!! And halarious I might add. Jeff always had a way about him and earned the respect of so many. We are so honored to have had him in our lives....even if only occasionally.
