In the mid 1960s, when I was 12 - 13 years old, I worked at Anderson's on 12th Street cleaning roses to make some extra money. John on occasion would give me tickets to Canton McKinley football games at Fawcett Stadium. What a wonderful smile. What a wonderful man! I remember his father too.

To John Anderson’s Family

We would like to express our heart felt sympathy for your loss. We met John through the Canton Camera Club, where he graciously shared his knowledge of photography with others. There is no doubt that his photography and life has touched others in any ways. His gentle personality and sense of humor will be missed.

To Flora and Family,
I was very sad to hear of John's passing. Over the years when I visited my Canton cousins, John's parents, John and Harriet always treated me like one of their own relatives. I shall always cherish those memories.
My heartfelt sympathy.

Flora,Thea Harriet,Anna,Johnny ("fruitbasketman") and Lady Evelyn,

May you celebrate his life through his death. As a former employee, I am reminded of the times spent with you. The fun side of John that only the Belpar B...knew. We pranked as hard as we worked. Many holiday eves spent into the wee hours and John taking our silliness in stride. Please accept my deepest sympathies and know that my prayers are with you.

Flora and Family, My heartfelt sympathy is with you at this difficult time. I am a former employee of Anderson's, John was quite a unique man, and a great boss!! I left there with so much knowledge from him that I carried it with me as a florist all thru my career, had it not been for John, my partner and I would not have been so successfull with our own floral business. We still refer back to his practices in our daily routine. God Bless his family, he was the best-Debbie Stollar Curtician

I remember when the floral shop was not as extensive as it is today and on numerous occasions an automobile would stray into the front of what was then Jones Pharmacy on the North East corner of Cleveland Avenue and 12th street, NW once even setting the building on fire. When John Anderson took over the entire block of the building, there were several other times when the front corner was assaulted as yet another car would make an unwelcome entry into the building. What is important is that through the years, the display windows were consistently and magnificently beautiful. One would drive by and marvel at the beaty and wonder what John Anderson's creativity was going to produce for windows to come. In those early days, display windows at all downtown stores (like Stern & Mann's) were the talk of the town. As time moved on, department stores abandoned their display windows all together for, they say, security or energy conservation purposes and stores became uninspiring entombed fortresses - with the beauty all but forgotten and a new generation came along (beauty, what's that?) with no idea that display windows ever existed. This was never so with John Anderson. John kept up the tradition of creating beautiful displays in his store windows for the entire community to enjoy. After the neighborhood surrounding the store began to diminish, John still maintained his magnificent storefront windows and at this very moment I think about just yesterday when I mentioned to a friend as we drove past the store, how beautiful the windows look. John Anderson's Flower Shop has become a Canton institution and one can only pray that it will remain as such. Only time will tell. In fact, in memory of John Anderson - today, I might just have to stop by and purchase one of their $9.99 cash and carry bouquets to take home for my lady to enjoy... and I will enjoy them too. I thank God for brining John Anderson into the lives of all Canton citizens. I am sure our Lord is already planning to ask John to arrange daily, the flowers of Heaven - yes, John is basking in the eternal garden of beauty in Heaven... in the presence of our Lord Himself who welcomed John with open arms. How could the Lord have done anything less? When it comes to a man like John Anderson, well, they just don't come any better.
Bless you, John. Amen, Thomas White - Canton, OH

I did not know John personally, however, about 18 months ago I received a phone call from him. I had ordered flowers for a 50th birthday. I am not one to complain much about service or products, but I was a bit disappointed in the arrangement for the price that I had paid. I called the florist to let them know that I was a bit disappointed. A day or so later John called me himself and said that the next time I wanted to order flowers to call him personally and he would handle it. He apologized that I was not happy with his product. Now that is a man, and a business owner with integrity. My sympathy to the family and may he rest in peace.

To all the Anderson's and the Anderson Flower Shop Family:

The flower shop will not be the same without the big man behind the desk! John was a great boss and mentor who taught everyone who worked for him. Every designer who worked with him will forever be "stretching" arrangements and thinking of John!

To All of John Anderson's Families,

My heart goes out to all of you. I always thought of Mr. Anderson like a Dad to me. He would always help if he could. At that time I had no one. My name is Nancy Reese and I worked with Anderson Flowers for sometime. My first few weeks I worked there, my car broke down and guess who offered to help me out till my next pay was John. He was a great person and meant alot to all of us! He would always be kind and help me with some of my designing. God Bless You John you will be quit missed. I know the Gates of Heaven will be opened for you!

With All My Love & Prayers,

Nancy Reese & Family
