John Evanoff Obituary

John Evanoff
90 of Massillon, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2015 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Wells. He was born on July 31, 1924 in Lorain, Ohio and was the son of the late Alex and Mary (Kostanski) Evanoff.
Upon graduation from high school, he served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. During that time he served with Merrill's Marauders. He then went on to work at Republic Steel.
John was a member of Perry Christian Church.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 55 years, Doris A. Evanoff and his sisters, Florence Bugh and Lillian Scott. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Bill Wells of Massillon; his son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard and Echo Evanoff of Tokyo, Japan; his grandchildren, Stephen Barnes, Jeffrey (Carley Anne) Barnes, Elia Evanoff, Kai Evanoff, Hugh Evanoff and Lenny Evanoff; his great grandchildren, Myana Barnes, Ayla Barnes and Judah Barnes and his brother Albert Evanoff.
A service to celebrate the life of John Evanoff will take place on Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home with Rev. Rod Geiger officiating. Burial will follow at Massillon Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour before the service.
The family would like to thank Crossroads Hospice, specifically Marriah DeSantis, for the outstanding care that was given to John during his illness.
