Shaffers,
What a wonderful, ,fun ,friend Michelle was.....She will be missed by many....I had the pleasure of caring for Michelle for 3 and 1/2 days this month in South Carolina....it did not matter how sick she was....she was always worried about her friends from Ohio.......asking from her hospital bed if Jeanie was cold.....it was so hard to see her in so much pain......I will never forget that trip and I will never forget Michelle.......All my prayers go out to the family.........love

I would like to thank the entire Shaffer family for lending us Michelle for the past few years. We were coworkers for the Guardian ad Litem Program, and I am proud to have called her friend.

Michelle gave with her entire heart, and advocated for the children with as much strength and determination as she fought against her cancer. Her will to live and ever present smile through her pain was an inspiration to me.

I will always treasure my last visit with her before going home to Ohio, and know that she is smiling down on us all and saying "I told you I would see you again soon".

I only knew Michelle for brief period of time; however, in that time period I was able to experience the love and great passion she had for children and animals. She talked about Jack and her godchildren all of the time. I will always remember one of Michelle's many funny stories about "Dr. Love".

Thank you to the Shaffer family for allowing me to enjoy Michelle for the time I did. Michelle truly loved life and lived it to the fullest.

We love you Michelle and will truly miss you!

Michelle was a very special person who touched many lives. She was a strong advocate for the abused and neglected children she served in South Carolina through the Guardian ad Litem Program and always went above and beyond to ensure they had the best opportunity for a better future. Thank you Shaffer family for sharing Michelle with us. She was one of the most courageous and positive people I have ever know. We are all better people for having known her. I will miss her and treasure her memory forever.

I worked with Michelle for several years in the Guardian Ad Litem Program in SC. I shall never forget the first time we met: I walked into the Guardian office and asked a volunteer if Michelle was in her office. From the back office, I hear her holler "That's QUEEN to you people. I am simply the QUEEN." She came out laughing and introduced herself. It continued to be a joke between her and I right up until the last time I visited her a few days before she returned to Ohio. I shall miss your smile, your infectious laugh & the fierce determination with which you advocated for the abused and neglected. Just one last time, I'll say it: All hail the QUEEN!! Love you, Michelle.

What a strong woman Chelly was. She fought to the end. I will shed no tears for you Chelly because I know that you are in such a glorious place and I'm sure that Grandma and Grandpa and Junior and Uncle Jim met you at gates with open loving arms. Your life here on earth was spent doing everything you loved and cherished. You were such an awesome person and will be missed dearly by so many. Love, your cousin Vicki

Dear Sandy, Chuck, Steve, Julie, Madison, and families,
I was so saddened to learn only three days ago that Michelle was sick again. I am overcome with emotion at the loss of such a friendly, happy, fun, beautiful girl as Michelle! I first met her at Stop-n-Go, then she babysat for us, and then I got to see her just this past Christmas. What a wonderful person we have all lost. I will grieve with you all, and our family will pray for yours that God will grant you peace. We love you! Sharon and Chris Johns
