Robert E. Bartels
Robert E. Bartels passed away May 5, 2008 in Aultman Hospital. He was born March 4, 1923 in Syracuse, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents. Bob graduated from Smithville High School in1943. He served in the United States Army Air Force in World War Two as a B-24 pilot. He graduated from The Ohio State University in 1950 and was employed as a Stock Broker for 44 years, retiring from the A.G. Edwards Company. Bob was a good father, grandfather and loving husband. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and hunting with his friends and sons. He was an avid Ohio State sports fan and a member of the North Canton Elks. He is survived by his wife Sarah to whom he was married 61 years in March. Son and daughter-in-law; Jeff and Mary Ann (Novelli) Bartels of North Canton and son Bruce Bartels of Las Vegas NV; two grandchildren, Ryan and Katherine Bartels. At His request, he will be cremated with burial of cremains in Smithville Cemetery. Calling hours for family and friends will be Friday May 9, 2008 from 6-8 p.m. in the Reed Funeral Home North Canton Chapel (801 Pittsburg Ave. N.W.). Donations in Bob's name can be made to the American Lung Association of Ohio 6100 Rockside Woods Blvd. Suite 260 Independence, Ohio 44131. for Pulmonary Fibrosis research.
