Robert Soderquist Obituary
84, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Chapel Hill Retirement Community surrounded by family and friends. He was born on Jan. 10, 1929 in Portal, N.D. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rachel Soderquist; four daughters, Karen D'Alessandro (Charlie Edwards) of Frederick, Md., Nancy MacMillan (Farid Bamdad) of Burke, Va., Jean Soderquist of Sterling, Va., Jane Soderquist of Westlake, Ohio; two grandchildren, Sara and Garett MacMillan; two brothers, Richard Soderquist of Ukiah, Calif. and Ronald Soderquist (Elda) of Thousand Oaks, Calif. He was preceded in death by his brother, John Soderquist and his parents, Vern and Edna Soderquist.
Robert was a veteran of World Wall II serving in Korea. He was employed and retired from Heinemann Saw Co. in Canton, Ohio. Robert was an active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church and a volunteer at the St. Luke's Lutheran Home.
Per his request, Robert's body was donated to Case Western Reserve University for medical education so others could benefit from the research. A memorial service will be held on June 22, 2013, 11 a.m. at the Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Pastor Kip Smith will officiate. Donations can be made to the Local Alzheimer's Chapter or Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure for Team Karen's Pea Brain, 1717 Rhode Island Avenue NW, Ste 700, Washington, DC 20036.

I am so sad to lose our Robert, but what a wonderful life Rachel and he had the 57 years they shared as well as the family. The best stories Robert would share were about his travel. I will miss his stories and seeing the world through Roberts eyes. Robert has been a faith driven man and I know he is at peace in Jesus's loving arms. His love for The Lord and for his Lambie (Rachel) has been ever lasting. Heaven will be brighter and the stars will shine longer as Roberts lights our way. I will miss you so much Bob. I will remember you always. Rest my sweet little man this fight is over. To the family I am so sorry for your loss and if I can do anything .....

Robert, is going to be missed very much. I will always remember Robert at dinner time, oh my he did love to eat. Robert always saved time eating, it was all going to the same place lets put it all together. One day we talked and talked and talked and talked I didn't have my hearing aide in and Robert didn't have his in either to this day I have no idea what we talked about. I am so sorry to know Robert had passed from this decease. he was robbed of so many beautiful-memories but as his faith has taught him he will once again see it all very clear. We will miss you Robert. Rachel, And family if you need anything just ask Donna. God bless you
